08 Windsor Oaks Pinot Noir 2 Dijon Clone ($35) ☺☺☺

Windsor Oaks has produced a great blend from two Dijon clones namely 667 and 777. This creates a wine which has great red fruit as its base with cherries and strawberries dominating. Underlying the red fruit is a wonderful vanilla taste which comes from the French oak barrels in which the wine matured. I would have no hesitation in serving this wine at the dinner table, it compliments lighter meats well and went very well with a lovely beef stew.

07 Marimar La Masia Pinot Noir ($40) ☺☺☺☺

The 07 has certainly matured well and benefitted from cellaring. When we last tried this wine I remarked it and great structure. This has helped the wine evolve and it is now probably at its peak. The deep cherry flavour still dominates the nose and palate but there are also subtle signs of mocha, vanilla and a hint of sandalwood. Wonderful example of a great vintage.

Wilson Summertime White ($20) ☺☺☺

The name of the wine says it all. Although they don't release the blend I suspect there is Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Viognier in there somewhere.  The initial nose is of pears and flowers with a hint of citrus. When you taste the wine the pears are laced with melon and a hint of tropical fruit. All in all a good blend and suitable for those early evening sundowners.
