10 OPP Mouton Noir OPP ($20) ☺☺☺

Mouton Noir's rather eclectic labelling and names distract from the rather good burgundian style Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley. OPP Stands for Other People Pinot and with other names like Horseshoes and Handgrenades OPP sounds quite logical. The Burgundian Style is very cherry and and earthy, hints of spice and sandalwood make up the wine and it is best left dented for about an hour.

12 Trader Joe's Grand Reserve Pinot ($9.99) ☺☺☺☺

Trader Joe's manages to pick some great wines and sell then on to the public at very reasonable prices. The latest to come out is the Reserve Pinot Range, in this case the 2012 RRV Pinot Grand Reserve. At $9.99 it represents tremendous value. The initial nose is of ripe cherry jam with hints of vanilla and aniseed. The tannis are mellow and it is a great summer quaffing Pinot. I have no hesitation giving this 4 smiley faces because of its tremendous value.
